On Saturday, we dedicated a special home to a homeowner who served our country. This extraordinary father, his wife, and their four children now have the keys to their future. The dedication was made even more special because the Patricia B. Terwilliger Family Foundation sponsored this home. The foundation, established in 2003, focuses on causes that support women’s and children’s issues, found building with Habitat to be a perfect match.
Patricia and her two daughters, Tracy and Bonnie served as the foundation’s trustees, and all three volunteered alongside our homeowners for nine weeks to build this home. In addition to sponsoring the home, the foundation ensured the home was beautiful inside and out by installing a custom landscape plan last week.
Bonnie shared that building for Habitat encompassed all the things the foundation loves. “We like to support organizations that allow us to be involved and really get our hands dirty. You cannot possibly focus on raising a family when you are worried about a safe place to live. Home, family, and faith are the foundations of a fulfilling life.”
We were also blessed to have volunteers join us on this build from The Home Depot and UPS. None of this would have been possible without the leadership of our House Leader, Deemer, and our talented construction crew. Dedications are always emotional, and Saturday’s was no exception as we witnessed a family achieve financial stability and a safe environment for their children because of the support of the Terwilliger family.
