Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta began its second home build of the year on Bowdon Street in Austell thanks to sponsors Assurant, Citi, Nissan and Publix. This is the 19thannual home build with the Habitat of NW Metro Atlanta chapter supported by the Assurant Foundation. Due to COVID restrictions, the build site will have no volunteers and the home will be exclusively built by skilled workers who work with the affiliate on a part-time basis.
The house is being built for the Fuller family. Ms. Fuller is a single mother of a 15 and 19-year-old. She is a full-time bus driver and says that education is very important to her family and they all have big goals to be entrepreneurs. “Becoming a homeowner will change everything for my family and me,” said Fuller. “We will not have to worry about the rising cost of rent; we can paint whatever we want, do not have to worry about loud messy neighbors. We are super excited about being homeowners!”
“With the financial support of the Assurant Foundation and our build sponsors, we are giving a well-deserving single mother and her children the stability and the financial security to pursue their education and their career goals,” said Jessica Gill, CEO, N.W. Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. “We are grateful for our long- term partnership with our sponsors and their commitment to families and communities.”
“Habitat for Humanity is a valued community partner as they help families build strength, stability, independence and shelter in communities worldwide, including the NW Metro Atlanta area,” said Shawn Kahle, vice president, social responsibility and engagement for Assurant. “While the COVID-19 pandemic requires our community partners and volunteers to work differently, our commitment and Assurant Cares spirit remain strong in 2020 so the Fuller family can enjoy life in their new home.”
