Brasfield & Gorrie Raises Walls in Powder Springs

Monica is an Atlanta native who has worked for Cobb County School District for nearly a decade. She began as a monitor on school buses for special needs students, and two years ago she became a bus driver who prides herself on taking care of her students as she would her own children. She also works part-time in security at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where she enjoys staying connected to her home city.

Monica is a widowed mother of three children, with two still at home: Zada, a 21-year-old junior in college studying criminal justice, and Tru, a 13-year-old outdoors enthusiast. Monica has long dreamed of homeownership, and on her second time applying for our program, she was selected by Habitat for Humanity to fulfill that dream.

“We are ecstatic that a company of Brasfield & Gorrie’s stature has partnered with us to build through sponsoring an entire home,” says Kyle Huhtanen, CEO, Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta. “Monica is a public servant and great Mother who has worked very hard to build a better future for her family.”
