Disabled Air Force Veteran Ramona Vaughn Receives Mobility Modifications Thanks to Home Depot

Retired and disabled U.S. Air Force Veteran Ramona Vaughn desperately needed mobility modifications in order to safely stay in her Lithia Springs home. The 59-year-old served as a medical service specialist in the Air Force and later had a career in the medical field. Vaughn is raising two great nieces who are now teenagers.

Thanks to the Home Depot Foundation and their unwavering support to help Veterans, Vaughn now has a large wheelchair ramp, safety grab bars, an accessible bathroom, electrical upgrades and a dishwasher. Vaughn says the dishwasher is “a game-changer”, since standing at the sink to wash dishes for long periods of time is not physically feasible for her.

“It has transformed my life. It is life changing to be able to walk on a ramp coming up to my house, being able to put a dish in the dishwasher and being able to sit on the toilet without hurting my back,” she said. “Every time I walk up the ramp, I am so happy.”
