For her senior project at Cornerstone Prep Academy, Madison Locke created the Habitat Hustle 5K to benefit NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. This race will be held March 9, 2019, at 8 a.m. at the Allatoona Creek Park in Acworth.
Madison became involved with our affiliate as a volunteer on a build site. On that day, she met the homeowner, a veteran who was excited to finally have a real place to live. After his military discharge, he had suffered from poverty, even having to live in his car for a while. Madison believes that should never occur for those who have fought for our freedom in America.
Last year, Madison also ran cross country for the first time. She learned perseverance and teamwork from her season.
These two experiences, Habitat volunteer and cross country runner, inspired her to create her own 5K run. She knows from first hand experience that running brings everyone together toward a common goal. Ending the homelessness of veterans and those in need is certainly something we can all believe in!
