On Saturday, August 24, work began on a future Habitat home in Austell, which is being sponsored by the Patricia B. Terwilliger Family Foundation.
The foundation was established in 2003, and Patricia and her two daughters, Tracy and Bonnie serve as the trustees, all of whom will be volunteering alongside the homeowners to build this home. The family says the foundation focuses on causes that support women and children’s issues. “In addition, we like to support organizations that allow us to be involved and really get our hands dirty,” says Bonnie. She continues, “You cannot possibly focus on raising a family when you are worried about a safe place to live. Home, family and faith are the foundations of a fulfilling life. Building for Habitat for Humanity encompasses all of these things which we love!” The Terwilliger family has a long history of involvement with and support of Habitat for Humanity International, and when they were looking for a special family to build with this year, the Patricia B. Terwilliger Family Foundation selected our affiliate.
The family is passionate about veterans (both their father, Ron, and grandfather served), and they were very excited to build alongside a homeowner who has served our country. This family has immense gratitude for the sponsors and volunteers who will make their dream of homeownership possible and are looking forward to a brighter future. “We are so grateful to be able to pair this special sponsor with a homeowner who desires to raise their family in the safety of our community,” says Jessica Gill, CEO, Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta. “This home will give them the foundation they need to build a new life and safely bring up the next generation.” The build will end in early November and the family will be in their new home by mid-November.
