On behalf of Habitat for Humanity Uganda, I write [to NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity] to thank you for your donation of US$ 10,000.00 that we received for the month of February 2018. You have made our work in Uganda possible!
We are glad to report that these funds helped us secure youth sponsorship slots at Pioneer Technical Institute through our Vulnerable Group Housing Program. This year we are sponsoring 74 youth in the Institute because of your support!!So far over 393 youth have been empowered with life skills in welding, building and construction, carpentry, catering among others since 2014. Vocation training is to economically empower the families to enable them earn a living to realise Strength, Stability and Self reliance.
Okunya is among the youth that were supported to study carpentry in 2017. He had no source of income but since his completion, he has been able to open up a carpentry workshop at his mother’s home. He now earns about USD 20 weekly that he used to secure a piece of land and also help with the home expenses especially school fees for his siblings.
