The Home Depot Foundation Awards Grant to Fund Veteran Homes and Critical Repairs to NW Metro Atlanta Habitat

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(June 13, 2018) Smyrna, GA— NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce The Home Depot Foundation has provided a grant award that will provide housing and repairs for Veterans in need in our community.

The grant will cover the cost to build four new Veteran Habitat homes and 12 critical repairs for current Veteran homeowners. Additionally, Home Depot gift cards will be given to Veterans in need.

“The Home Depot Foundation shares our commitment to place veterans in safe, affordable homes,” said David McGinnis, President and CEO, Northwest Metro Atlanta Habitat. “Their generosity and commitment to veterans in our community honors these heroes who have given so much for us.”

Critical repair projects could include adding insulation and weather stripping, installing wheelchair ramps or renovating bathrooms and doorways to accommodate disabled veterans. Team Depot volunteers are involved in many of the repairs made through this program.

NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is one of only two affiliates nationwide who has broken ground on an all Veteran Habitat neighborhood in Douglasville. Habitat has four Veterans homes in process this year, with more planned for 2019.

The Home Depot Foundation has invested over a quarter of a billion dollars to veteran-related causes. For more information, click here: https://corporate.homedepot.com/community.
