Recently, Wells Fargo volunteers rolled up their sleeves and spent a day making repairs for a very special Cobb County couple through our Veteran Repair Program. The team replaced rotten siding on nearly half the home.
The homeowners, Luther and Angela, have lived in Cobb County since 1995. Luther, a U.S. Army veteran and former Sergeant, served for 14 years as a combat engineer and completed multiple tours of duty. Today, he lives with a 70 percent service-connected disability, and he and Angela have spent their lives serving others. Married for 35 years, the couple – high school sweethearts from New Orleans – founded the Family Life Restoration Center in Mableton in 2006, a nonprofit devoted to helping families in need across the community.
Their own home, however, had fallen into severe disrepair. Thanks to Wells Fargo and Habitat’s Veteran Repair Program, the Washingtons will soon have a safe, healthy, and welcoming home where their children, grandchildren, and extended family can gather and celebrate life’s precious moments together.
This remarkable couple has spent their lives giving back to others. Thanks to our partner Wells Fargo, they can now continue to live safely and comfortably in their home for years to come.
