On Friday, September 18, 2026, we proudly kicked off a new home build with house sponsor Genuine Parts Company (GPC).
A long-awaited moment was full of smiles and high fives! GPC has been a patient, dedicated sponsor. Linking arms with our homeowner Shondra on that morning filled the job site with a mix of excitement and relief. GPC employees constructed our walls hand in hand with volunteers, and by early afternoon there were window openings and exterior walls that Shondra could reference to visualize her future home.
GPC is a leading global service provider of automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added solutions. This is the third home the company has built in partnership with our affiliate.
This partnership has been sustained throughout the years with the assistance of several GPC employees, including Venitia Smith, Director of Employee and Community Relations; a valued former member of Habitat NWMA’s board, Tom Simcox, a long-time Ghost and House Lead; and Jeremy Story, Internal Audit Director and current board member.
We extend a big thank you to GPC and all our volunteers who helped kick-start Sharonda’s home build and move her family one step closer to a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home.
