Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta partnered with Kennesaw, Georgia-based Novelis to encourage the local community to recycle more. Through this program, Novelis, a global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, provided recycling bins for Habitat and its partner organizations.
Thanks to collections from Smyrna-based Viking Alchemist Meadery and Voith Group, and the Habitat for Humanity chapters from four Cobb County High Schools, we have collected 320 pounds of aluminum cans. The breakdowns are below:
Campbell High – 126 pounds
Pope High – 71 pounds
Hillgrove High – 80 pounds
Walton High – 13 pounds
Habitat of NW Metro Atlanta – 30 pounds
The recycling initiative began June 1 and invited 140 local Habitat organizations to work with their local civic groups, businesses and community partners to improve sustainability in their communities. Our affiliate will receive a grant to build houses from Novelis for $1,750.
“Like us, Novelis is headquarted in Cobb County and we are excited to partner with them in this meaningful effort toward environmental and affordable housing sustainability in our community,” said Jessica Gill, CEO, Habitat NW Metro Atlanta.
