The High School Coalition Kicks Off 2026 Build Season

Our affiliate was proud to officially kick off the 2026 build season with the first wall raising of our new home build in Douglasville.

On April 25, the Cobb County High School Coalition joined Habitat NWMA for the first build day of the season for veteran family and future homeowners Luis and Marisol and their three sons. Despite rainy weather, students, volunteers, and supporters came together with enthusiasm and determination to begin building a safe and affordable home for this deserving family.

Habitat NWMA is deeply grateful for the dedication of students from Campbell, Harrison, Hillgrove, Pope, and Walton High Schools, who make up this year’s high school coalition. Their fundraising efforts and volunteer hours help make affordable homeownership possible for local families. We sincerely thank the teacher sponsors, volunteers, donors, and community partners whose continued time and support make this work possible.

This effort marked the 29th Habitat home built in partnership with Habitat clubs from Cobb County high schools, continuing a longstanding tradition of youth leadership and community impact.

“The Cobb High School Coalition brings energy and passion every year as they join Habitat’s mission. Their flexibility to support both our Curb Appeal Program, serving homeowners in Smyrna, along with building a new house in Douglas County, strengthens our entire community,” said Kyle Huhtanen, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta.

Habitat NWMA has a 40-year legacy of transforming lives in Cobb, Douglas, and Paulding counties.
