Mableton, GA (June 28, 2016) The Marietta Daily Journal recently reported on our most recently completed house. Long time sponsor Assurant, Inc. started work on its 13th Habitat house on April 14 and dedicated that house on June 16.
The new homeowner, Jude, and his family of five girls received the keys to their new house at the dedication ceremony from leaders at Assurant. Having spent the preceding nine Saturdays working together on the build site with Assurant employees made this moment even more special for the family and the volunteers.
“One of the meaningful aspects of volunteering with Habitat, for our employees, is the chance to work literally side by side with families on their new home, and get to meet them personally, as neighbors,” said Alan Colberg, President and CEO of Assurant Inc.
David McGinnis, CEO of NW Metro Atlanta Habitat, also spoke at the dedication. “We are very fortunate to have the dedication of Assurant and their volunteers for 13 years. The impact that this team has made in our community is immeasurable, and we at NW Metro Atlanta Habitat are truly grateful of the company’s continued involvement in upholding our mission to provide affordable housing for deserving families and residents of our community.”
This is the fifth house to be dedicated by our affiliate this year. Nine more are planned for completion before the end of this build season.
