(August 31, 2018) Smyrna, GA— NW Metro Habitat for Humanity announces the retirement of David H. McGinnis, President/CEO.
McGinnis has served as President/CEO of NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity since January 1, 2014. A native of Rome, Georgia, David moved to Cobb County after graduating from West Georgia College in the early 70s. He has held executive positions in the corporate arenas of banking and finance, management, real estate development and residential construction.
Prior to Habitat, McGinnis served as President and CEO of Security Exchange Bank, Vice President of Smyrna Bank & Trust (now Regions Bank) and Vice President of C.W. Matthews Contracting Company.
He has been actively involved in the Cobb County community, participating extensively as a Chairman’s Club member of the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of the 1985 Class of Leadership Cobb and chaired the program in 1988-1989. McGinnis is a member and past president of the Smyrna Rotary Club.
McGinnis has been actively involved in many other civic efforts, including serving on the Board of the Cobb County Prayer Breakfast and the Board of Trustees for Shorter University and the Noonday Baptist Association and Foundation.
His passion in his extensive career and personal life has been helping others to help themselves. “Serving in this role at Habitat has been the most gratifying position of my career,” said McGinnis. “The hard, selfless work this team does every day radically changes the lives of not only our homeowners, but the lives of future generations.”
McGinnis lives in Marietta with his wife, Marcia. He is a deacon at Milford Baptist Church. He and his wife have three adult married children and seven grandchildren.
