Home Depot Grants Disabled Vietnam Veteran Daniel Vura Mobility Upgrades

Senior veteran Daniel Vura served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was an aircraft armament repairman in the Tet Offensive. He suffered an eye injury while on duty and was hospitalized. In fact, his second child was born at home while he was in surgery in South Vietnam.

He and his wife of 55 years are partially disabled now and were in desperate need of modifications and repairs to their Douglasville home. Thanks to The Home Depot Foundation, our talented team was able to replace their windows, roof, gutters, floors and build a wheelchair ramp, and put in accessibility and safety features throughout the home.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Vura got an architectural design certificate and eventually opened his own business.

Our walkway was uneven, and we had tripped many times,” said Vura.

“They did a tremendous job and my wife and I are both every appreciative— it added many years to the life to our home.”
